The Goal of the Time-Space Continuum
// April 5th, 2009 // Uncategorized
We here at NMOB! are advanced species, and, like Stephen Hawking, we can’t separate time from space. Rather, we see with the fourth dimension of time as part of the picture. When a rock is thrown into a pond, we don’t see a circle that gets bigger in the water — we see a cone, expanding upward from the bottom, through time AND space. So, when my father and the New York Times are both calling this the goal of the year, we think they’re being simple. To us, its the goal of the mountain range, or the Grand Canyon. But however it is that you understand the relationship of time and space, please enjoy this wonderful goal for yourself:

This goal is absolutely amazing and contains several different bits of skill which combine to make an end product finer than the sum of its parts. It is not just a display of footballing prowess but also speaks to the poor quality of Bayern Munich in this campaign and the fine play of Wolfsburg. I think that’s why this is such a great goal, it contains so many different elements of interest and intrigue.
I just love that he decided to shoot backheel at the end of it. You can almost see him thinking, “Wow, I’ve done some pretty amazing stuff here, the only way to put a cherry on top is to do… this!”
NMOB was mentioned on today’s Guardian Football Weekly podcast. Cool beans.
